Cheapy fruit snacks = baby heimlich

We made a quick trip to Target today to browse the dollar spot. Amaya wasn't as happy to be there as the rest of us so I grabbed a few dollar snacks to hold her over till dinner.
I picked up these:




I inspected the ingredients (they were not all that great) but, the squishy center made me think they would be soft enough for her. I tore open the bag. Tried a couple to make sure they were toddler friendly and they passed the test. On with our shopping we went. Bored with the dollar spot we headed over to get what we were actually there for and I looked down at her and realized she was struggling to get in a breath.

I frantically yanked her from the cart, turned her over and whacked her back a couple times...still nothing...she's gasping for breath like a fish out of water and I turn her over and whack her again...nothing. So I'm thinking OH CRAP i'm going to have to give her the REAL heimlich! I hold her facing forward while yelling very loudly but, as calm as I could..." Help me! I need help! It's an emergency!" Looked down the long aisle...NO ONE! so I wrapped my arms around her tiny body and thrusted it gently but firmly down one or two times and out popped a yellow whole fruit snack.

Seconds later 3 different women came to my aid. I explained to them what happened...none of them knew the heimlich. They were happy she was ok. I was shaken, but relieved and thankful that I had taken that first aid class last year even if it is very different when it's your own baby turning blue from not breathing. I knew what to do but, as calm as I pretended to be, I was so panicked I wasn't going to be able to get her breathing. Needless to say..she's fine.



BUT FRUIT SNACKS ARE OFFICIALLY BLACKLISTED!

Thrift store SCORE!

The girls and I headed to the thrift store yesterday to make a donation. I saw a couple lawn mowers out front and by golly we need one of those so I parked, got out and woo hoo we found a brand new one for $40. There is something so awesome about finding quality stuff on the cheap. I prefer it over anything i've ever bought regular price. I almost develop an attachment to it. Like I found treasure. My treasure from yesterday?
A Janie and Jack dress for $4, sweet wooden toy car $2, brand spankin' new lands end swimsuit $2, 2 sheets for my christmas gifts $3, and plate holders I'm going to spray paint pretty colors.

It RAINED!



For the first time in weeks.



Yeah for being able to check it off our list (cause I had my doubts).



Rain called for a rainbow.



So a rainbow pedi we did.

Summer lovin'

We made our summer list...finally!

So maybe it's been in my head but, now it's HUGE in the living room for all to see.

There is something so exciting about the possibilities.

Even if you don't get to them all it's so awesome to have inspiration when you are at a loss for what you feel like doing.

Most of it is local and free and the girls had a blast helping me put it together.

So YEAH! for starting to check things off!

(cue the british accent) Bloody crafts!

I've been saving soda tabs for the girls to make them cute bracelets.
The craft is super easy and quick ( amen for immediate gratification!)

Soda tabs, sissors ( i can't find mine anywhere...boo) So i used my rotary cutter, ribbon and a lighter to heat seal the ends. ( I may or may not have just turned on the stove burner for that part)

However, if you are like me. With three monkeys running around (specifically an itty bitty one) I would not recommend crafting on the floor of the living room. I was sitting on the floor, JUST released the safety on my rotary cutter and my itty bitty backed into my lap faster than I could move it and the "bloody" thing cut the crap out of her heel. Thank God for our lovely neighbor who is a nurse. I panicked at first. Held pressure. Thought to myself...how the heck am I going to put a bra and pants on to get help. Managed the pants. (not the bra) walked over to her house and she doctored her up. She almost needed stitches and I haven't told the hub yet. I'm sooo going to be grounded. Why is it again that they only get hurt on my watch? (oh yeah cause I'm with them 90% of the time)
So lesson learned...get fully dressed, find your sissors, and,keep your butt off the floor before engaging in any craftastic activites. (unless everyone is snoozing)

Fourth

We had so much fun yesterday. My sweet baby turned 17 months old,

we had a neighborhood party, a bike parade,

and a huge mess to clean up.
They banned all fireworks here (even sparklers) so I spent a bazillion dollars at the dollar tree on glow sticks and anything fourth of july-ish to entertain the kiddos. They had a blast decorating their bikes. I just set out a tub full of streamers, flags, bows, etc. and they went crazy.


I'm in love with holidays these days. There is just something about having little ones that makes them so much fun and, the more cheese the better.I just pray that I fill their past, present, and future with so many wonderful memories to pass on to their own children.

Life's A Beach

We went to the beach last weekend.

The sound of crashing waves, squawking sea gulls, and splashing kiddos was all I needed to re collect my thoughts from the previous week.

I truly believe that when you don't know what to do...do nothing. So, nothing we did and, it was glorious!

These little fishies wouldn't get out of the water.

I realized what really matters,

and how precious life really is



and, how much I cherish every minute with my girls.
